You just need to select "Ping the remote host" in port scanner section.
You can change ping options in plugins preferences (TCP ping, ICMP ping ...)

I would advise to go with TCP Ping, bez sometimes when using the other
ICMP Ping option would report that the remote host is death, even when it is alive.


So enabling the TCP Ping would throw out a empty report, if the remote
m/c is death. This will be really useful to save time when scanning a large
network.
