Adding additional ports to scan

Subject: Adding additional ports to scan
Date: Fri, 12 Nov 2004 16:48:18 +0000
I am running nessus version 2.2.0 on Fedora Core 1. My question is that I
would like to add additional ports to check during a scanning phase (i.e. Prefs
or Scan option tabs). The ports that I want to add are in the hundreds, so I
don't want to just manually add them to the section that allows you to add
additional ports. I have found the services.tcp and services.udp file in
/usr/local/var/nessus file. I see how I could easily add them to the
services.txt file, but I know that I would have to add them to the binary files
(services.tcp and services.udp file), but I am not sure how to do that. I can
read the file with strings, but am not familiar enough with *nix to append to
the file and then I guess recompile??? Thanks in advance for any help that is
provided.
