Axel,
Thanks to your ATrpms.net I've got Nessus running on Fedora. Additional
libs were required but they were easy to find on your site.
Please copy me if you reply to Mike below. As a newb, I'm trying to
understand Linux care 'n' feeding issues myself.

But not with SSL support for RH <= 9 unless you apply RH specific
patches to the configure scripts (due to particular kerberos
dependency) like done for the rpms.

And what about upgrading to newer versions, where half of the old
tool's files may be left around, and you have to do more janitory work
than actually building a new release?
Also package installs come with a free file checksum database to
detect tampering or disk file corruption.
So, by all means, use packaged components, and if you find issues
report them to get them fixed.
