Most of the new crop of Oct 2004 updates that are for Windows NT won't install on *Workstation* like they always have. MS04-037 and MS04-038 install OK on NT 4 Workstation, but MS04-029, MS04-031 and MS04-032 won't, stopping with a "Setup Error" message saying "This fix is only for installation on Windows NT 4.0 Server." Is this just marketing ploy, or is there some real reason that the the 17-Aug-2004 Rpcrt4.dll version 4.0.1381.7229 from MS04-029 shouldn't go on on NT Workstation? How could it be for Server only? Do we have to use inuse.exe or Linux boot CDs to apply these patches? -- NTBugtraq Editor's Note: Want to reply to the person who sent this message? This list is configured such that just hitting reply is going to result in the message coming to the list, not to the individual who sent the message. This was done to help reduce the number of Out of Office messages posters received. So if you want to send a reply just to the poster, you'll have to copy their email address out of the message and place it in your TO: field. --
