I have just completed my testing of our corp load against SP2. I am impressed with installation, It went smoothly and the deploys are working despite the large file size. So far as I can tell, all of the features are working as we expect. I'm not a big fan of how the pop-up blocker in IE 6.0.2900 is a huge bar nor how it catches download from sites that say, "Your download will begin in 10 seconds" and forces you to manually accept them (yes, I am aware that I could probably shut that off.) The firewall settings appear to be working as controlled by domain privileges. The only challenge we have had is that w can't apply that domain privilege if the firewall has been on since before the computer returned to the network post-install. It would be nice if they didn't roll IE, OE, WMP, and Messenger all into one update along with the new features. The features with the wireless networking look good but I only tested on our pre-installed Dell cards (Intel LAN 2100 3A). In a few days, we will run tests with SUS and see if it continues to live up to smooth deployment. One problem is the stated problem with clients now blocking the ports which Shavlik pushes to. Easy enough to fix via policy. Or just turn the firewall off. http://forum.shavlik.com/viewtopic.php?t=317 If you can't get the pack from MS, you could always try a torrent, I was able to get it in about 20 mins this way on DSL (for my home install). http://66.90.75.92/suprnova//torrents/2352/xpsp2.torrent (many more out there) Seeing as how this is a security site, I feel obligated to mention that MS does not itself distribute via BitTorrent. This means that the authenticity of the patch is what is trusted by a seeder. I would be very happy if someone from trustedsecurityorganization.com started seeding the torrent so people could have a little more faith. dave ----- NTBugtraq Editor's Note: Want to reply to the person who sent this message?
