Hello Russ and all:
After reading about one difficulty with the XPSP2 download of the update, I'm thinking of suggesting MD5 hash includes with Microsoft's downloads.
To that end, here is the hash for SP2. It was arrived at by comparing six different downloads with Luke Pascoe's md5summer. We have a very fat pipe at work and each download only took far less than one minute.
# MD5 checksums generated by MD5summer (http://www.md5summer.org) # Generated 8/11/2004 7:35:45 AM
59a98f181fe383907e520a391d75b5a7 *WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe
Other companies are doing this. Should MS include md5 checksums?
Pete
