Gijo, The IPS devices can be run in IDS only mode. (Included in email is a picture of the G100 set in a passive monitor mode). You gain the feature of having it there should you need it, while keeping the same great protection. IPS boxes run in IDS mode still offer the ablity to use both connections for monitor mode. I know at least in a few cases you needed to use Cross over cables to have that work properly, but think i heard that was now corrected. So if you purchase a G100.. you get 2 passive monitor ports .. or 1 active monitor. Regards, Michael

Dear All, I have noticed in the ISS website that provintia 201A IDS devices are on end of sale. Can we get the boxes upgraded to the new one or we have to buy again? What happens in envrnments were we dont want IPS and we want only IDS. I am working for a bank and I feel I cannot afford any false positives blocking any of my customers. Any views on this will be very helpful. Appreciate responces on best practices anyone using ISS in banking envornment. Thanks and regards Gijo Thomas. _______________________________________________ ISSForum mailing list ISSForum@iss.net TO UNSUBSCRIBE OR CHANGE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION, go to https://atla ( https://atla/ )-mm1.iss.net/mailman/listinfo/issforum To contact the ISSForum Moderator, send email to mod-issforum@iss.net The ISSForum mailing list is hosted and managed by Internet Security Systems, 6303 Barfield Road, Atlanta, Georgia, USA 30328. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a PRIVATE message.
