Most important thing to note is that the A/B interfaces will each initiate
link-state with the switches you cable the device to. It's true that with
no power the device will act as a "cable", but we got bit when we decided
that we would create a backup link and put it in standby mode by adjusting
spanning tree cost. When we powered the Proventia off spanning tree kicked
in and took us out for a while.
I would suggest you look at things like "uplinkfast" or "backbonefast" if
you will be using a backup uplink between switches with the Proventia if
they are Cisco switches. This will allow you to take the Proventia out for
maintenance and not loose uplink. The other method is to have the Proventia
be the only uplink. That's a 'no no' here because we don't like single
points of failure so having a backup link was crucial.
The other major gotcha is to be sure and hard code speed/duplex setting on
both the switch and Proventia to avoid issues.

Has anybody configured the G boxes in a HA setup? Is it a fairly straight
forward process? The user guide doesn't have much in the form of spanning
tree design or how to configure it.
