No, no. That is if the service is running or not running. I am talking about a
check of the actual existence of Prov Desktop. What if PD is missing
altogether? The checkbox will not help that at all. I think there is a way to
use a ProventiaG appliance to do this but I am not sure.

Proventia Desktop (newest version of BlackICE aka RealSecure Desktop
Protector)
actually has that feature build in. It's a simple checkbox in the policy. It's
named something like "Don't allow network connection if service stopped". It's
located where you also can select GUI and shared configuration.

Can't Proventia Desktop do this if you configure it to work with a
ProventiaG appliance? I thought Pro. Desktop ver. 8 had this ability.
The ProG checks every system as it logs in for an updated and running
install of Pro. Desktop. If it exists then login accepted and if not
then no login.

I haven't tried this yet but I thought I read it was possible.

Hi Roger,

Beside that you can using PDAC (Proventia Desktop Access
Control) feature. This feature can be used to verify that laptops or
desktops connecting to the corporate network are running an updated ISS
host
protection product one. For more detail information, please see :

Hi Roger

Yes, this is possible. You can configure it within the Group Policy.
There

exists an option (administrative settings) that all network traffic will
be

blocked when the service isn't running.

Regards,

Daniel

Hello

is there a configuration setting where a computer is granted access to
any

network only if the black ice service / process is running? we would
like to

enable access to the lan or wlan only if the computer is protected by
iss.

Regards

Roger
