[ISSForum] Installation of Site Protector version 5.1

Subject: [ISSForum] Installation of Site Protector version 5.1
Date: Sat, 12 Feb 2005 16:17:50 -0500
Derek,

Please see KBA #1143:
https://iss.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iss.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1143

Make sure the NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation registry key is set to 0.
Keep in mind if your Event Collector is not installed on the C drive,
you will also have to remake the Program Files directory. To check to
see if your Program Files directory has a short name created, from a
command prompt of the drive your Event Collector is installed on,
please run the following command:
dir /x
If it does properly have a short name, you should see it say something
like this:
02/07/2005 11:30p <DIR> PROGRA~1 Program Files
If you do not see the PROGRA~1, then you do not have a short name
associated with that directory. To remake it after setting the
registry key properly, simply recopy it like the KBA says to do for
the ISS directory.

Guy's,

I have tried to install a basic configuration of Site protector version
5.1 on a windows 2003 server with all latest patches. Running SQL 2000
with all latest patches.
Once the Console is installed the event collector component is set to
Offline the sensor status is stopped.
Starting the sensor gave me this error

Start Sensor EventCollector_MYSERVER@X.X.X.X(#6
<mailto:EventCollector_MYSERVER@X.X.X.X(#6> ) failed. The error message
is:The sensor is still in initialization state. Please check Event Log
on the sensor machine for possible initialization problems.
[ID=0xc72c0004

The issDaemon reports this Couldn't get 'engport' from engine
'EventCollector_MYSERVER', assuming '901'. and the also Engine
EventCollector_MYSERVER failed to restart 3 times, force to stop now

I have tried reinstalling the entire application from the ground up and
still get the same errors, I have also applied all service packs and
XPU's and still get the same errors.

Yours in need of therapy All help greatly accepted.
Derek
