It is technically impossible to build a RealsecureDB from a backup. I have had to rebuild Site Protector 4-5 times in the last few years.
In fact the answer to 1 may be, treat RealsecureDB as ephemeral and buy a SIM (like 2)
Not true. You can absolutely build a SP from a backup. As long as you have the RealSecure database file and log file, you can rebuild an SP and reconnect everything. It takes about 5 hours of work, and you have to reset some passwords and resynchronize keys, but it can be done. I just did it yesterday. Its not an easy procedure. You have to know the in's and out's out SP to do it, but it can be done. Heck, maybe I should offer a special "SiteProtector Disaster Recovery" service. ;-) ___________________________________ Andrew Plato, CISSP President/Principal Consultant ANITIAN ENTERPRISE SECURITY 3800 SW Cedar Hills Blvd, Suite 298 Beaverton, OR 97005 503-644-5656 Office 503-214-8069 Fax 503-201-0821 Mobile www.anitian.com ___________________________________ GPG fingerprint: 16E6 C5B0 B6CB F287 776E E9A9 AF47 9914 3582 633D GPG public key available at: http://www.anitian.com/corp/keys.htm ________________________________ From: issforum-bounces@iss.net on behalf of Cooper, Stephen Sent: Tue 2/8/2005 1:06 AM To: Sergey V Soldatov; issforum@iss.net Subject: RE: [ISSForum] DB backups and offline access _______________________________________________ ISSForum mailing list ISSForum@iss.net TO UNSUBSCRIBE OR CHANGE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION, go to https://atla-mm1.iss.net/mailman/listinfo/issforum To contact the ISSForum Moderator, send email to mod-issforum@iss.net The ISSForum mailing list is hosted and managed by Internet Security Systems, 6303 Barfield Road, Atlanta, Georgia, USA 30328.
