Entrust LibKmp Library Buffer Overflow
Summary:
ISS X-Force has discovered a flaw in the Entrust LibKmp ISAKMP library.
This library is used by multiple VPN vendors to facilitate IKE key
exchange for IPSEC-based VPN products. LibKmp handles virtually all
processing of inbound ISAKMP packets. This library is also responsible
for the validation and sanity checking of inbound requests. A flaw exists
in these validation routines that results in a buffer overflow
vulnerability.
Business Impact:
Compromise of VPN servers and enterprise firewalls may lead to exposure of
confidential information, loss of productivity, and further network
compromise. This flaw may allow attackers to gain complete control over
vulnerable VPN servers/firewalls and all data contained therein. Successful
exploitation of this vulnerability could also be used to gain unauthorized
access to networks being protected by vulnerable VPN/firewall products.
