Most likely, to minimize confusion for those who want to deny it. Matthew Flaschen Charles Hamby wrote:
It seems to me that all you need to do is set Automatic Updates to tell you when new patches are ready and then tell it to ignore IE7 if you don't want it. I'm more puzzled as to why they're doing this "out of cycle" instead of on "Patch Tuesday" (or "Black Tuesday", your choice).
