At least in the INSERT-cd has a possibility to update Clam Antivirus (to memory, i guess :). And I have used that one quite successfully.
Check the http://www.inside-security.de/insert_en.html (I think it is also found from the Ultimate Boot CD, which was mentioned here earlier).
