I can believe email malware is going down...maybe...(heck, macro and boot viruses ruled the world each for a few years before the next big thing came along)...but I would bet money that Internet scanning worms and bots have more than made up for the drop in email-only worms. December also shows a marked drop over the rest of the year: around 1 in 33 in November dropping to around 1 in 50 in December. However: taking the previous year (2003) into account the general trend appears to be that virus-borne emails are on the increase, shown by the blue trend line that has been drawn on the graph: http://www.messagelabs.com/img/eng/emailthreats/virus_large.jpg The net result is that the trend line is flattening out, rather than continuing to rise at any significant rate. The projection appears to be for around 1 in 20 in 2005. So I think that people like Stu should enjoy the brief respite while they can!
