I received the same mail, and I am pretty sure that is a new kind of virus.
You're welcome to your opinion, but analysis of the Email and the things it links to clearly shows that there are no viruses (i.e. self- replicating programs) directly involved and thus the entrapment Email was almost certainly spammed.
I sent a copy the Symantec and TrendMicro, but don-t have an answer yet...
Aside from my description, already posted here, Trend has posted descriptions of the dropper/downloader and the Trojan it fetches (sorry, URLS will wrap): http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=CHM_PSY ME.N http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=TROJ_AG ENT.EK Symantec's scanner quite likely catches at least the scripts in the spam and/or in the .CHM it downloads on vulnerable machines heuristically or under one of its exploit detections, so samples of the spam sent there may have fallen into a "black hole", or at least a lower priority queue... -- Nick FitzGerald Computer Virus Consulting Ltd.
