Thanks for all the responses especially Marek for directing me to the correct solution from Sun. http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-25-73377-1 It was an OBP setting, but not the output-device and input-device the majority of people suggested. Even if these are set to screen and keyboard, respectively, the server will still default to ttya for input and/or output if they are not detected. The E450 server will boot without a monitor and keyboard with all the default OBP and kbd settings. My problem was that the value OBP ttya-ignore-cd had been changed from true (default) to false. Once this was reset to true the sever boots fine with neither a monitor nor keyboard connected even with output-device=monitor and input-device=keyboard. Also, I am able to connect and disconnect from the console at any point using a proper terminal emulator and cable connected to ttya. I use the serial port on my laptop, a null modem cable, and SecureCRT. -----Original Message----- From: Marek Antozi [mailto:Marek.Antozi@Sun.COM] Sent: Thursday, September 02, 2004 6:00 AM To: Steiner, Jason (OCFO) Cc: focus-sun@securityfocus.com Subject: Re: E450 - hangs when booting without keyboard and monitor -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello Jason.
