If you can wait until Vista comes, the Ultimate and Enterprise editions will have a feature called Bitlocker, under-file system encryption, protecting from pre-OS attacks. Look here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsvista/security/default.mspx -----Original Message----- From: Casey DeBerry [mailto:cdeberry@cobizinc.com] Sent: martedì 11 aprile 2006 22.56 To: focus-ms@securityfocus.com Subject: Laptop Encryption & Write Permissions I am looking into encryption for laptops. Specifically, I like the idea of only encrypting one of two partitions (the non-OS holding partition). This partition would hold data and programs for the user, and the unencrypted partition would hold the OS. =20 Is it simple permissions to force users to write data (including swap and all temporary files) to the encrypted partition? Essentially, for the user the OS part would be read only. Thanks!
