I'm currently reviewing ce-infosys as well and have had very good results with it. It also has a very extensive set of features including an IP phone client, VPN, etc. It can encrypt entire volumes or single files and has the ability to handle USB storage devices and writable CDs as well. I've been running it on my own laptop for about 6 months and the only side effect I've seen is that occasionally the mouse tends to get hypersensitive. -B- -----Original Message----- From: McMonagle, Paul [mailto:pmcmonagle@realtime-it.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 12, 2006 8:47 AM To: Casey DeBerry; focus-ms@securityfocus.com Subject: RE: Laptop Encryption & Write Permissions Have you ever heard of pointsec? www.pointsec.com. At a previous employer we were looking at using that. Pretty robust feature set. Specifically, I like the idea of only encrypting one of two partitions (the non-OS holding partition). This partition would hold data and programs for the user, and the unencrypted partition would hold the OS. =20 Is it simple permissions to force users to write data (including swap and all temporary files) to the encrypted partition? Essentially, for the user the OS part would be read only. Thanks!
