Disabling Microsoft FTP service banner.

Subject: Disabling Microsoft FTP service banner.

Does anyone have any experience with disabling Microsoft FTP banner on W2K?

MS has released KB article - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=826270,
which tells about the patch, which will do it.

Patch is listed as pre-SP5, however MS did not include it with the
recent W2K SP4 Rollup Update 1. And with termination of SP5, the patch
probably will never be publicly available on the MS site. Has MS
forgotten to include this patch with rollup-update?

I'm a little hesitant about applying a new patch on my systems, which
was not widely tested.

Thanks,
