Transparent mode is when a firewall act as a plain firewall but has the
impact of a switch by respect of the topology point of view, in other words
has all the interfaces belonging to the same lan segment, this is very
useful when you need to insert a firewall where you cannot change the
address plan.
Only cisco pix starting from 515 model with at least 7.0 release and cisco
asa can support transparent mode.

Can anyone please explain what is TRANSPARENT MODE in PIX FIREWALL. Which
all series support this mode?. And what is the Practical Scenario behind
this.
