Transparent mode is when the firewall appears to operate as a layer 2
device. It's interfaces have no IP addresses, only a single management
address. This feature was first introduced into PIX 7.0. 
A good scenario for using transparent mode would be when a customer's
environment requires the addition of a firewall with minimal
interference to the current environment. That is, the firewall doesn't
need IP addresses assigned etc. and doesn't break or segment the IP
subnet along the wire - it basically becomes part of the wire.
Installation is therefore much easier.

Can anyone please explain what is TRANSPARENT MODE in PIX FIREWALL.
Which all series support this mode?. And what is the Practical Scenario
behind this.
