Hi Dab!
I will describe it in points.

1) In transparent mode the pix firewall does not appears as a node it is hidden 
and hackers will not know that there is something in between. 
2) You don't need to reorganize your network (IP/Subnet Scheme) you just take 
the firewall and deploy it within you wan and lan.
3) Both interface of the firewall will be having one ip address for management 
purposes only.
4) ver 7.0 supports transparent mode (pix 501 and 506 does not support ver 7.0)
