Detecting/Blocking Dasher with SmartDefense

Subject: Detecting/Blocking Dasher with SmartDefense
Date: Wed, 21 Dec 2005 16:42:37 -0500 (EST)

Is anyone using SmartDefense code 541051020 or above with the settings to block or detect for MS05-051, (Dasher... virus)?

Have you been successful at detecting/blocking it?

According to Checkpoint these are the instructions to enable it but we currently don't have an environment to validate that it actually works. If anyone has data that shows it does block/detect this virus could you share your results?

To enable the protection:

1. On the SmartDefense tree, click MS-RPC > MS-RPC over CIFS.
2. Enable Block DTC vulnerability (MS05-051)

Users of VPN-1 NG with Application Intelligence R55 will receive rule 99449 on the SmartView Tracker screen
