Hi Bill,
I have not used VLAN's in SPLAT, however I suspect it'd be used for similar reasons as any other firewall capable of VLAN's - that is, logical separation of security zones. Through the use of VLAN tagging on a firewall, you can use one physical interface (such as a GigE port if you expect a lot of traffic) and many VLAN's to allow firewalling between several broadcast domains, without having to purchase additional Gig cards (or firewalls) and run more cables.
It is also useful in service provider environments (i.e. Managed Firewall) where expensive, high-capacity hardware can be leveraged for multiple customers at the same time while still keeping their data secure and isolated from each other.

Hi folks,
I do understand about VLAN in the switches environment, but a bit confused about VLAN in SPLAT.
Can anyone explain, what exactly VLAN is used for in SPLAT and give me an example.
Thanks,
Bill
