It ain' IOS, it is Finesse. (BSD derivative I have been told, like IOS)

And you can use the cheaper NICs as in a previous post of mine.

No, VMWare has not licensed anything like this from Cisco. As you say,
everyone must purchase the more expensive Cisco NICs from Cisco. The IOS
is carefully controlled and the license is restrictive.

Hmmm, maybe a good FOSS project...?

Jeez, mate... if you manage that, you'll be hailed a genius, probably up

until the point when the Cisco's lawyers arrive at your door to break
your legs <ahem> I mean, persuade you to "cease and desist". :-)

As far as I know, you cannot run PIX software on anything other than PIX

hardware, unless someone has a PIX hardware emulator available for
VMWare.

| Hi List ,
|
| I am making a document "Test Protocol Firewalls" where shown the
| results of tests of commercial Firewalls like :CheckPoint and Cisco
PIX
| :
|
| - Firewall -1 R55+ HF 13 running SecurePlatform.
| - Cisco Pix IOS 6.3 o 7.0
|
| My network environment is :
|
| - External ( Attack Server)
| - DMZ ( Webserver vulnerable without last patch of
| apache.......Honeypot)
| - Internal (Here It will be syslog Server)
|
| -For CheckPoint I just have installed the Firewall Module and Smart
| Center in two different virtual machines running in vmware workstation

| 5.0.0
| build-13124 and
| the SmartDasboard running in the Host Windows 2000. All is working
very
| well ...is fantastic the vmware.
|
|
| -For Cisco PIX I really have problems because I have not PIX, so my
| question is if Anybody know if I can download the PIX IOS 6.3 o 7.0
and
| then create new virtual machine and execute my "Test Protocol
| Firewalls" .
|
| I will appreciate your coments and when I finished my tests I will be
| sharing my resuls with you.
|
| Cesar Farro.
