I currently have a firebox X in service. The system did hang a few times last year and it was not due to DOS or any specific attacks. It was indeed the firmware which would lock up at weird times. Anyway, with the latest firmware it is rock solid (at least from a downtime perspective). The system is great for novice or intermediate sys-admins who are not familiar with the intricacies of firewall management. Creating rules is a breeze as well as creating reports. For small to medium businesses it does the trick. The system runs off of linux if there are any linux gurus out there... -----Original Message----- From: Leandro Reox [mailto:lmet5on@fibertel.com.ar] Sent: Thursday, June 09, 2005 2:59 AM To: aolverar@bancoazteca.com.mx; firewalls@securityfocus.com Subject: RE: Watchguard! Andres, I administer WG since FIREBOX II (Yeah, very log time ago) ) , I think this appliances are great for little-mid networks, but, I have a lot of problem with traffic management, the firewall freak out at certain percent of traffic, whatever I recommend it, if you don't have budget to buy a Juniper-Netscreen, Cisco PIX or a great Checkpoint sure :-). For other little-mid network firewall look at sonicwall too. Cheers Leandro F. Hi everyone! I just would like to know if anyone of you have had great experiences with watchguard appliances, I've done some projects (VPN, Firewall routing for instance) with them and I'm not convinced at all, opinions about it?
