Because Checkpoint is an application that can run on a standard linux platform you are free to select the hardware architecture that bests suits your needs and not need to be tied to a particular hardware platform when selecting your Firewall/VPN/IPS solution. In terms of scalability, as has already been discussed in this thread, only Checkpoint offers a true active-active, load balanced, cluster solution. By combining this capability with a hot-swappable blade architecture like the Crossbeam X80, which allows you to add new cluster members on the fly, you can create one of the most scalable and flexible firewall solutions available. In addition, because you are working with a standard linux hardware platform that supports multiple applications, you then have the freedom to select the IPS/IDS/IDP application that best compliments your firewall solution instead of being tied to a single vendor to provide both functionalities. Running on a standard linux platform also affords you all the function and flexibility provided by a unix environment such shell scripting and packet sniffing. I would like to here from people who are using these devices. How are they integrated in IDP network scheme? I know that Juniper offers their own IDP module. In terms of manageability which one is better? How about scalability? Thanks in advance ;) -- Rossen S. Naydenov rnaydenov@postbank.bg Disclaimer: This communication is confidential.
