For that matter you can try Astaro Security Linux.

Gets very good reviews and comes complete with intrusion detection.

Optional extra's include inline virus and content filtering for SMTP, HTTP
and FTP.

It really is excellent value and very easy to setup and get running.

A Cisco Pix 501 can be purchased for under $500 and works well.

Safe@ it's in that price range. I don't know about Cisco.
However, if it's about a small office, what's wrong with iptables?
In my humble opinion, this firewall code is quite strong, and as
said before, FWBuilder really makes it easy to manage.

Or you can choose something like Smoothwall or Astaro Security.
That's even easier to use and get running.

or something like Shorewall. basically, iptables-made-easy. examples on
their website for one, two, or three interface linux boxes. easy to
configure.
