Hi Alex,
I'd been using SmoothWall up until recently (I now running an
OpenBSD machine with a custom PF script) and I can thoroughly
recommend it, it's easy to set up, easy to maintain, the developers
generally release patches to fix any security holes reasonably
promptly.
I have also used IPCop but that was in it's early days shortly after
it forked from SmoothWall, and at that stage I preferred SmoothWall,
my understanding is that IPCop has evolved significantly since then so
it probably comes down to "suck it and see".
Regards,
Morgan

Has anyone used Smoothwall? I'm building a new firewall, and I was
considering using Smoothwall versus IPCop. I was hoping that someone had
used it and could give me an opinion.

TIA
