It is funny how many people keep focusing on the PIX and 
conduits when the initial question was about a router...

As for using notepad to edit the ACLs, I would make just one 
recommendation... give the ACL a new name when you paste it 
in, apply it to the interface (with the new name) and THEN 
remove the old ACL. That way there is no lapse in your 
coverage... you could call it paranoid and petty, but then a 
dollar is made up of 100 insignificant pennies...
