While my experience with fortinet products is only on their SMB products, I
will reply with my experience with it.

I recently just finished using my demo unit of the Fortigate 100 from which
I promptly ordered a unit for my office. The first thing that I had to do
when I initially set up the unit was update it's firmware. The new firmware
enhances to units capability and interaction greatly. The only real problem
I had was that Fortinet (in effort to comply with the needs or users)
changed all the CLI commands (for the most part) from version 2.50 MR2
(8/2003) to the current release.

Initial setup though was quick and painless using the GUI. I did not have a
chance to do any extensive work with the CLI due to time restraints etc.

As for Anti-virus, it seems to be a robust solution, however not one to
replace existing internal AV systems.

I did not get much of a chance to use the IDS on the unit though.

Subject: FORTIGATE

Hello List,
We are looking for a ICSA Certified Stateful packet inspector
firewall that also has VPN and IDS/IPS capabilities. We are currently
looking at SonicWALL Pro 4060, Netscreen 204, and Fortigate 800. Does
anyone have any experience/recommendations with these firewalls, mostly in
particular the Fortigate? Thanks in advance.
