  KillProcess "FileDescription" Local Buffer Overflow
------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY

"The <http://orangelampsoftware.com/> KillProcess application can
terminate almost any application on an PC running Microsoft Windows,
including Windows Services and applications being debugged (but not while
at a breakpoint) in a matter of a millisecond."

Lack of proper length checking allows attackers to cause the KillProcess
to execute arbitrary code by overflowing one of its internal buffers.

DETAILS

Vulnerable Systems:
 * KillProcess version 2.20 and prior

A malicious .exe file with a long FileDescription in its version resource
can generate a buffer overflow in KillProcess, which in turn can be used
to cause it to execute arbitrary code.
