Good day to all, Here is a message from Shon Harris. I am posting on her behalf as she is not a member of the group. Best regards to all Clement From: shonharris [mailto:shonharris@logicalsecurity.com] Sent: Thursday, August 31, 2006 2:54 PM Subject: CISSP All-In-One Book - fyi Hello, I have never been on any CISSP distribution list and I do not review CISSP forums. I decided to write this note because I am getting A LOT of e-mail from people who are very upset with a review that was posted. These other people actually seem to be much more upset than myself! Haha You have to have a thick skin if you are going to publish anything. I was actually more entertained by the critics who said I use the word `she' too often!  Many of you may have read my book in the past and may have even contacted me directly. Over the last 5 years I have responded to hundreds of e-mails where people had questions about the material in my book, identified errors that I made sure to correct in the next edition, had criticisms, asked for help in their career choices, or thanks for all the work I put into this resource. I have always answered each and every message. I appreciate and respect the people who address me directly. Who ever this Rob person is has sent unsolicited reviews to my publisher for years on my book. He was especially cruel on my first edition. None of these reviews have been helpful or useful to me to create a better resource for the industry. Instead his reviews (on not just my book, but others as I have heard) are usually just mean, egotistical, and seem to be written to make him feel better about himself. (I have no idea who this person is, but if it is the one who wrote a Software Forensics book ? I see that it is currently selling for less than $5 on Amazon.) I just want everyone to know that I would love to hear comments directly from you ? good or bad. My e-mail door is always open. In fact, one person sent me a few mistakes that he found on the CD that accompanies my book ? and I gave him a job! Haha I write these books to be resources for the industry. You don't make a lot of money writing technical books ? you have to do it because you love it. Writing such a large book and thousands of questions and still having a full time job and family is quite a task if you have not tried it yourself.  I am not perfect and I don't know everything, but I am honest, ethical, and I work very hard. I also always want to improve ? so please feel free to contact me directly with any issues you have found with any of my work. The easiest thing in life to do is criticize others for things you do not have the strength to do yourself. The hardest thing to do in life is to have the balls to work hard and put something out there for everyone and their brother to evaluate. I maybe a woman, but I had the balls to work for a solid year and develop a 1,000 book that covers 10 huge and complex topics. I have then continued to work over the following years to only improve this resource to the best of my ability. I actually dare anyone to test my knowledge in cryptography or any of the other domains ? but do it honorably, in a straight forward manner so that we can work as a team to develop the best possible resources for the industry. I appreciate the support that I have received over the years on my work and I will continue to do my work ? with or without such silly attacks. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed me today about this issue. Have a great day everyone! Shon Harris Yahoo!
