C'mon Stanley, think positive. You are taking the CISSP exam. Not the first time, the ONLY time. First advice, study only the things you are weak on. Why go over stuff already in your head. Take lots of practice exams (www.cccure.org). Link encryption occurs between any two points directly. This happens at layer two. Only secures the channel of communication, not the user. Also referred to as transport mode. End-to-end encryption encrypts on one end and does not decrypt till the destination. This occurs at layers 6 and 7. Secures the full transmission, enabling full access control. Also referred to as tunnel mode. s/MIME is used to provide confidentiality by encrypting email and email attachments . It allows for sender authentication through digital certificates.

Hi,
Can someone help to explain the difference between link encryption, end to end encryption, and s/MIME?
What is the effect if only the data is encrypted and not the header and routing infor.
I am taking the CISSP exam the first time, any advise?
Regards
Stanley
