[CISSP-D] size of encryption key?

Subject: [CISSP-D] size of encryption key?
Date: Sun, 13 Nov 2005 07:23:37 -0800 (PST)
Hello there,

Could any one kindly comment on the appropriate size
of the encryption key? Though it dependes on the
business needs but for secret information, is there
any recommended size? Moreover, how much time would a
cryptanalyst take to break a 128 bit encryption key
using today's technology?

If we want to secure an information for a year(say),
is 128 bit key size enough?

comments will be appreciated.
Regards,
Ali
