Good day,

I think it was simply badly explained and this is why you are confused.

The hot site is a SUBSCRIPTION service, meaning that whoever owns the hot
site building will provide you the equipment for speedy recovery. You have
to remember that you are not the only company that has subscribe as well, so
this room might have some generic equipment that can service more than a
single company.

However, if you make use of special equipment that is not commonly used by
most company. I doubt your subscription service will be able to have a
duplicate copy of this very special equipment that would be put in place for
your exclusive usage. So you might have no choice but to use a warm site
instead of a hot site that is all preconfigured if you do make use of less
popular hardware configuration that are very particular for your specific
type of business.

A cold site will not have any equipment; it is mainly a shell with power and
environmental controls. A warm site will most likely have some equipment
and connectivity already in place but it will not have all of the
equipments. As it was mentioned in your book; if you do make use of
equipment that is NOT common for other companies to use, then your provider
will not have this equipment in place even if you're making use of a warm
site.

Once again, those are guidelines. There is no fix terms that says a warm
site will only have equipement x, y, and Z. It depends on your recovery
goals and how much money is loss per hour as well.

In conclusion a cold site will not have equipment, a warm site will have
some equipment, a hot site mainly has all of the equipment needed. However,
a hot site will not provide you with all of the equipment if you make use of
less popular hardware such as a gateway between a wired network and a
satellite terminal for example.

I hope this helps

Take care

My understanding was, Cold site and Warm site will not
have expensive equipments read ( it can be installed
in hours ) so obveouslly how come it will have less
popular hardware also

So i m totally confuse in this... Can anyone pls
explain this concept in easy terms
