Hi,
I agree with you there is no perfect book. However I think that reading several
books helps you gaining what is required of CISSP : a broad understanding of
all information security domains.
This is what I did:
1) Two months before the exam, I thoroughly read :
- Sybex CISSP guide (good book but sometimes not precise enough - especially
for cryptography aspects)
- The CISSP Prep Guide: Gold Edition (to my mind the best book)
- Contrary to a lot of people, I didn't appreciate Shon Harris' book as it was
too verbose for me.
2) One month before the exam, I attended the official study seminar. I really
appreciated having read the books before. It helped me knowing where to
concentrate and I was able to ask in-depth questions to the instructor.
3) Two weeks before the exam, I started, to :
- Turn every page of the official guide to have a look and check I wasn't
missing anything
- Practice on every available test (CCCure...)
I did one CBK domain every night.
4) Two days before the exam :
- I did the practice test that was given with the official guide, just to have
a clear idea of what was going to happen ;) I scored 80%.
And I finally passed ;)
Good luck to all of you !
Regards,
Gérôme
