There are several ways to become a forensics investigator as Kevin pointed
out. But in order to get the right training you must ask yourself, what
will this training provide me? For example, if you want to testify in court
you must be "qualified" as an expert witness. This is where the prosecution
and defense question you about your knowledge, experience and expertise in
that particular area. So attending a five day course may not help in this
matter, but with your experience it may. However, if you are applying with
a data recover firm then they may be only interested in what qualifications
you have with recovering data. I attended a 4 week course on computer
forensics however; it is only open to Law Enforcement, in order that I could
be qualified as an expert witness. So I would say, look around and find the
one that is right for the job you are going to be doing.
