Hi all,
I just received the good news today. I sincerely thank the forum for the
valuable study tips, discussions, comments, etc. thanks again! Now, here is
my version of the key to success for cissp -
* Be a member of CISSP related message boards, email groups, discussion forums,
etc. The value is immense!
* From exam perspective, I liked Krutz & Vines (Gold Edition), in fact, that is
the only book I really used.
* cccure.org is good source for practice questions. However, I was a bit
dissapointed with it after taking the exam. I was expecting the exam questions
to be very similar to cccure. For whatever reason, the exam questions were
significantly different as compared to cccure.org I know most of you will
disagree but that is what I thought.
* I have a fair amount of n/w & n/w security experience which helped a lot.
For all other domains, I crammed them in around 2 weeks (not a smart thing to
do but apparently it is still possible).
* I cannot stress enough the importance of reading the questions at least twice
& carefully. Even if you might be the security guru, I don't think that
gurantees success in the exam. Along with the security knowledge, I think they
really want to test your common sense, patience & managerial thinking (which I
think is fair).
* Staying fresh & energetic on exam day is critical for success. Easier said
than done. I did not do that & by the end of it I was dead.
* I did attend the ISC conducted review (because it was arranged my my
company). If your company or whoever is sponsoring it, it is great! Although
I did not pay much attention in class, I thought our instructor was awesome -
very approachable & knowledgeable. The most value lies in the practice test at
the end of the review.
Have fun!
