Hi I'm wondering if someone could clarify something for me regarding TACACS. My understanding is; -> TACACS uses UDP -> X-TACACS (The second release) uses TCP -> TACACS+ (The third and final release) uses TCP I've seen two questions on CCCure where it asks what protocol "TACACS" uses. Now, going from what I've read TACACS uses UDP. X-TACACS and TACACS+ both use TCP. Now in both instances its been marked incorrect, the explanation says; "The original TACACS, developed in the early ARPANet days, had very limited functionality and used the *UDP* transport. In the early 1990s, the protocol was extended to include additional functionality and the transport changed to *TCP*." It states it 'used' UDP but says it was redeveloped to use TCP. Do I assume in the exam when they ask about TACACS that they aren't distinguishing between the various versions and they assume "TACACS+", or they do? Cheers Joe ------------------------ Yahoo!
