I'd point him towards the Security+. At the very least, studying for
that will get his INFOSEC terminology firmer.

Hi All,
A friend of mine wants to get his foot into the information
security area. What would be a good basic security certification to
get started in information security. Can anyone suggest a simple easy
to pass security certification that you have yourself?

NOTE FROM MODERATOR:

The CISSP certification would be way too overwhelming for your friend. I
would suggest that you take a look at the SSCP certification from ISC2 or the
Security+ certification from CompTIA. They are both entry level certifiction
that would at least give your friends the foundation he needs to build on.

Best regards

Clement
