[CISSP-D] Re: Information on the topic of Insurance

You should understand the benefits and limitations of insurance as
an element of BCP/DRP. Note that insurance is not a security control
in that it is not preventative, detective, nor corrective. However,
it can reduce the impact of a disaster in some situations. For
example, if you have a warehouse where you store inventory for
future orders and the warehouse burns down. Insurance would reduce
the impact of the direct financial loss of the warehouse, possibly
the inventory, and operational costs associated with dealing with
the fire. But it is not likely that insurance would cover loss of
future orders or damage to your reputation. If a questions was to be
asked about insurance it is likely to be a "critical thinking" type
questions where you need to understand the benefits and limitations
of insurance.
