I'm glad someone out there endorses the SSCP. Never hear too much about this
certificate so sometimes I feel alienated. Since I didn't think I was ready
for the "big show" going for the CISSP with close to 2 years in security
experience, I went the SSCP(2003) route first with intentions to go for the
CISSP once I seemed ready (hopefully this winter).

It does seem that if you are trying to break into the security field, most job
descriptions for IT security require that you have your CISSP (SSCP? What's
that?). But that would be expected since it is for a senior level security
analyst position. I have not seen too many positions for a junior analyst
security position so I think the SSCP really is beneficial if you are in
helpdesk or sys/network admin position that needs to help familiarize
themselves with IT security. I think the information and the studying that I
pulled out of preparing for the SSCP will help you at your job (I'm an
overglorified MIS Director but really a Network Admin). Just wanted to add my
three cents.

Also, this may already have been posted but a good site for security if you
haven't seen it yet. www.uksecurityonline.com
