Just a bit of clarification here. I think a lot of people are still confused about this requirement. 1) The person who endorses you must be able to attest to your experience. If this person cannot attest to all the experience you are claiming then you will have to get someone else to attest to the rest of it. 2) The person who endorses you must be knowledgeable in information security. In other words if you say you have been performing security risk assessments then that person knows what they are, how they are used, and if you are any good at it. If this person is a CISSP then its a "no brainer" but it is OK if this person is not as long as they know what you are talking about. 3) The person who endorses you must not be an unethical (in the eyes of the information security profession) person. I have a few peices of advice for the prospective CISSP: a) do not ask another CISSP just because you know them. The CISSP must be able to attest to your knowledge not just that they know you. I am a CISSP instructor and I have been asked several times by my students to endorse them. Since I had known these students for only a week I am unable to provide that endorsement. b) You are only required to have 3(w/college) or 4(w/o) years experience in the CBK. If you have more than the required amount you may want to consider only claiming the experience for which it will be easy to find an endorser to attest to your knowledge during that time.
